Itinerary

We can help you decide on a route that suits your groups pace and interests. We have developed two nice rides from Moreton-in-Marsh (see below) or we can help you come up with your own unique tour depending on your level of fitness and interests.  See below for list of rides starting from other towns and villages.

The beauty of the private cycling tours is that they often take on their own character as the day progresses. As the route is not set we can take lots of interesting side routes and country lanes and stumble upon fantastic new discoveries.

Standard Ride from Moreton-in-marsh

This ride is around 18 miles and includes two moderate hills (170’/52m climb over 0.5 mile/0.8km and 300’/90m over 1 mile/1.6km), although these may be skipped depending on the fitness level of the group. If you are not sure about the hills we recommend our leisurely course. The tour passes through rolling cotswolds countryside and we aim to visit the following places on this tour (subject to change).

Moreton-in-Marsh- a classic Cotswold town with heaps of history lying on the Roman Fosse Way and has a JRR Tolkien link.

Chipping Campden- a picturesque Cotswolds wool market town with many historical buildings and a wonderful ‘wool’ church.

Broad Campden-tucked away in a small valley this delicious village with a host of interesting old homes, a small victorian chapel and a great cosy country pub.

Ebrington- pretty little Cotswold village with many cotswolds stone thatched cottages and amazing 17th century pub that we sometimes employ as a ‘rest stop’.

Paxford- another quiet village with great country pub that we love, The Churchill Arms!

Leisurely Ride from Moreton-in-Marsh

This gentle 18 mile ride is pretty much flat with no hills, running along the ridge of the pretty Evenlode valley and passing through several off-the-beaten track cotswold villages. If you are unsure about your fitness levels or haven’t cycled for a while we recommend this course. We aim to visit the following places on this tour (subject to change).

Evenlode– Evenlode village is the source of the Evenlode River, a tributary of the Thames

Adlestrop– pretty village and remains of train station made famous by the poem by Edward Thomas of the same name

Kingham– beautiful unspoiled Cotswold village with a selection of award winning pub to choose from for our lunch stop.

Daylesford Organic Farm-world famous organic farm, cafe and farmshop. Grab some local cheese or beers!

Bledington– scenic village with an attractive green and still retains its 15th century church and Victorian maypole.

Lower Oddington– village with ancient church containing 14th century ‘Doom’ paintings

Rides starting from other locations

 1) Burford – The Windrush Valley Ride

2)  Broadway – Under the Cotswold Escarpment Ride

3) Broadway – Cotswold’s History and Folly all in one day

4)  Broadway – A smattering of Villages around Broadway

5)  Stow-on-the-Wold– Circular tour to the Oxfordshire Cotswold’s

What a great way to see the Cotswolds! We had arranged to meet our guide; Mike at 10AM in Moreton-in-Marsh for the 32 km scenic bicycle tour. At the agreed time, Mike was waiting for us, together with Tom who provided the nearly new bicycles that were in tip-top shape. Our group had 8 guests (we were with 4) and Mike as our guide. Briefings were thorough and informative with lots of emphasis on safety. Mike was highly knowledgeable and courteous. Wonderful gentleman in the best English tradition. The ride was excellent. Most of it over small country roads with a few medium climbs that were very doable even for the retirees in our group. Some of the views were just stunning and the villages we stopped at were so authentic and quaint. This is no doubt the best way to see the Cotswolds; at your own pace with time enough to take it all in. Had a great pub lunch halfway the tour. The tour ended after 32 km at 4 PM without becoming strenuous at all. Highly recommended. Mike was such a nice and knowledgeable tour leader who looked after us every road crossing and climb.

Our wonderful guide, Mike, took us on a bicycle tour of multiple Cotswolds villages. The ride was approximately 20 miles. We stopped at a lovely pub for lunch (amazing food and drinks). The weather was perfect and Mike (a local) was a great guide. This tour was one of favorite days during our 7 week visit to London (possibly even topping our visit to Highclere Castle). We rode past a manor home and church where Jane Austen had stayed and worshipped and also visited a 12th (or maybe 11th) century church and graveyard tucked inside the woods. I recommend this tour to everyone interested in an alternate way to tour and learn about the beautiful Cotswolds region. We met Mike at the Moreton-in-Marsh train station to begin and end our Journey. Thank you Mike and Cotswolds Aventures!

We booked the small group leisurely bike tour through the Cotswolds. When we arrived at the Moreton-in-Marsh station in the morning, our wonderful guide Mike was there to meet us (Jamie checked in with us about our train from London to ensure someone would be there to meet us when we arrived). Mike was very thorough which his explanations about safety and the route we would be taking. He also provided interesting background information and stories about the areas we passed through during the day. The bike ride itself was very enjoyable. My mother and I do not do regularly bike at home, so we were initially a bit concerned about the level of exercise. The course is not too difficult, and when we did get tired, Mike took us through a short walk by a lovely stream. Overall, it was a spectacular experience and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice getaway from the city.

We had a fantastic bike ride with Cotswolds Adventures. Mike was an amazing tour guide, super friendly, very open to letting us stop and take photos, and respectful of letting us have our own time (as we were just two on the tour!). Highly recommend!

One of my favorite days of a 10 day long European vacation! A super easy train trip from Paddington Station and met at the Moreton-in-Marsh train station by Mike. There we had a very thorough description of our itinerary and safety instructions. The bikes looked brand new and were very comfy! Mike was very friendly and informative of local points of interest. I would recommend this trip to anyone. We did the “flat” ride which would be no problem for anyone regardless of their fitness level! Do yourself a favor and include this on your next visit to London! Such beautiful countryside! Thanks Jamie and Mike!
