Moreton-in-Marsh 10am
Moreton-in-Marsh 4pm
The route is around 18 miles and includes two moderate hills (170’/52m climb over 0.5 mile/0.8km and 300’/90m over 1 mile/1.6km), although these may be skipped depending on the fitness level of the group. If you are not sure about the hills we recommend taking a private tour where the distance/terrain can be adjusted. The tour passes through rolling cotswolds countryside and we aim to visit the following places on this tour (subject to change).
Moreton-in-Marsh- a classic Cotswold town with heaps of history lying on the Roman Fosse Way and has a JRR Tolkien link.
Paxford- another quiet village with great country pub that we love, The Churchill Arms!
Ebrington- pretty little Cotswold village with many cotswolds stone thatched cottages and lunch is usually take at the Ebrington Arms– a 17th century pub that does great food and local ales
Chipping Campden- The Jewel of the Cotswolds- a picturesque Cotswolds wool market town with many historical buildings and a wonderful ‘wool’ church. Generally you will have around 30 minutes free time to explore the town
Broad Campden-tucked away in a small valley this delicious village with a host of interesting old homes, a small victorian chapel and a great cosy country pub.
This tour departs from Moreton-in-Marsh station at 10:00am. Moreton-in-Marsh is easily accessible from Oxford and London Paddington.
If coming from London Paddington we recommend the 8:22am train which arrives at 10am. If you prefer an earlier train you can take the 7:22am from Paddington which arrives at 8:59am. There are trains back to Paddington from Moreton in Marsh at 16:42 and 17:45.

Please send us an email if you are not sure how to get to Moreton-in-Marsh.
The tour costs £80 per person which includes bike hire.
The tour starts at 10am and leaves promptly so please aim to be on time. If your train is delayed we will be aware and wait for you. You will have a brief orientation and then promptly depart. We aim to be back at the station by around 4pm.
The tour covers 18 miles over 6 hours and is achievable for most people with a decent overall level of fitness. The standard course does include two moderate hills (170’/52m climb over 0.5 mile/0.8km and 300’/90m over 1 mile/1.6km). If you are worried that it is too long or that you cannot manage the hills then you may want to consider booking a private tour in which the distance, terrain and itinerary can be adjusted.
The Cotswolds is by nature hilly (or undulating!) and therefore it is impossible to avoid the odd hill. The Standard Course has been chosen to avoid hills wherever possible, but there are two moderate hills and if you struggle you may choose to get off and push the bike up the hills we encounter. E-bikes are also available if you are worried about the hills.
Please check the weather forecast and wear appropriate cycle or sports wear and trainers. In the event of cold/wind/rain it is recommended you bring layers and some waterproofs. Jeans, shoes, skirts etc are not recommended.
We cannot help with luggage storage and the station has no bag storage facilities so if bringing bags please check them into your hotel first before coming on the tour.
We limit the tour group size to 10 people. Larger groups available on request. Drop us an email!
For insurance reasons we are only able to accept children over 15 years old and taller than 5ft.
Yes, as long as it is safe to do so you can stop to take a few photos during the tour.
The easiest option would be to get a direct train from London Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh. We recommend the 8:22am train which arrives at 10am or the 7:22am train which arrives at 8:59. There are trains back to Paddington at 16:42 or 17:45.
Train times and prices can be seen at www.thetrainline.com
Brand new hybrids bikes are included in the price of the tour. You also have the option of paying extra for an E-bike if you are worried about the hills.
Took the “Magnificent Cotswolds” cycling day trip, 18-mile “leisurely” ride (less hills) and was not disappointed. Great way to see some lovely villages and countryside and get a good workout! Good communication with the company prior to the ride. Meeting point is Moreton-in-Marsh train station so it’s easy to do by bus, train, or car–as a day trip from other UK cities or other Cotswolds locations. Bikes and equipment were new and well-maintained. Our guide Mike provided good info about the locations we visited. Would recommend if you have a reasonable level of fitness and want to see some less-visited Cotswolds sites.
One of my favorite days of a 10 day long European vacation! A super easy train trip from Paddington Station and met at the Moreton-in-Marsh train station by Mike. There we had a very thorough description of our itinerary and safety instructions. The bikes looked brand new and were very comfy! Mike was very friendly and informative of local points of interest. I would recommend this trip to anyone. We did the “flat” ride which would be no problem for anyone regardless of their fitness level! Do yourself a favor and include this on your next visit to London! Such beautiful countryside! Thanks Jamie and Mike!
A very easy train ride from Paddington. Mike was our bike tour guide and he was wonderful. My girlfriend and I were so impressed with the tour, guide, bikes and their hospitality! I would love to go back one day and I would definitely look to Cotswolds Adventures to be part of it!
We had a fantastic bike ride with Cotswolds Adventures. Mike was an amazing tour guide, super friendly, very open to letting us stop and take photos, and respectful of letting us have our own time (as we were just two on the tour!). Highly recommend!
Our wonderful guide, Mike, took us on a bicycle tour of multiple Cotswolds villages. The ride was approximately 20 miles. We stopped at a lovely pub for lunch (amazing food and drinks). The weather was perfect and Mike (a local) was a great guide. This tour was one of favorite days during our 7 week visit to London (possibly even topping our visit to Highclere Castle). We rode past a manor home and church where Jane Austen had stayed and worshipped and also visited a 12th (or maybe 11th) century church and graveyard tucked inside the woods. I recommend this tour to everyone interested in an alternate way to tour and learn about the beautiful Cotswolds region. We met Mike at the Moreton-in-Marsh train station to begin and end our Journey. Thank you Mike and Cotswolds Aventures!
